Character & History

Commerce City’s Hometown — Built from Scratch Since 2001

Reunion started as undeveloped agricultural land between Commerce City and Brighton. Shea Homes broke ground in 2001 and spent the following two decades building what is now the north Denver metro’s most comprehensively amenitized master-planned community. Oakwood Homes took over as master developer and continues building today, with Reunion North and Reunion Ridge still adding homes as of 2025. The community is not finished — it is still becoming.

The result of that 20-plus-year buildout is a community that spans 3,000-plus acres and several distinct sub-neighborhoods. Reunion proper and Southlawn (south of 104th Avenue) represent the more established sections, with mature landscaping and fully activated amenities. Reunion North and Reunion Ridge are the growth edge — newer construction, newer infrastructure, and the kind of neighborhood energy that comes from a community actively filling in. Turnberry and Aberdeen sit on the eastern and southeastern edges, primarily resale with their own neighborhood character and HOA structures.

What distinguishes Reunion from most communities at its price range is the investment in shared amenity infrastructure. The 21,000-square-foot recreation center, the Reunion CoffeeHouse, the 52-acre central park, the trail system, the two pools — these were not added as afterthoughts. They were the point. The community was designed around the idea that a development this large needed a social center, not just a collection of streets, and it shows in how residents describe why they stay.

Metro District Note: Reunion is governed by the Reunion Metropolitan District, a governmental subdivision of the State of Colorado. Properties within the community are subject to Metro District mill levies in addition to standard Adams County and City of Commerce City property taxes. Full Metro District financial disclosures are required in any Colorado real estate transaction. Buyers should review these disclosures carefully before purchasing. We can walk you through what to look for.

Location & Access

Northeast Denver’s Best-Connected Community

Reunion sits approximately 22 miles northeast of downtown Denver, positioned between Interstate 76 to the west and E-470 to the east. That corridor gives Reunion residents two distinct commuting options: I-76 runs directly into central and downtown Denver, while E-470 connects north toward Brighton or south toward Aurora and the Tech Center without touching city traffic. Most residents are on a highway within two minutes of leaving home.

Denver International Airport is the community’s most cited location advantage. At roughly three miles via E-470, Reunion has the shortest airport commute of any established residential community in the north metro. Pilots, flight attendants, airline staff, and airport employers make up a meaningful portion of the buyer pool for exactly this reason. For residents without aviation connections, the airport proximity adds convenience without adding noise — Reunion falls outside the primary flight path and is consistently described as quieter than buyers expect.

RTD bus service runs along 104th Avenue and 120th Avenue, connecting Reunion to the broader transit network. The Reunion Marketplace Center at 104th and Chambers puts a King Soopers, Walgreens, and Ace Hardware within a short drive. Reunion Village, further east along 104th toward Tower Road, adds dining and additional retail. Downtown Denver remains a car commute rather than a transit trip for most residents.

Parks & Outdoor Life

52-Acre Central Park, 10 Miles of Trails, Two Pools

  • 52-acre Reunion Central Park (lakes, trails, amphitheater lawn)
  • 10 community neighborhood parks with playgrounds and picnic shelters
  • 10 miles of internal walking and biking trails
  • 2 outdoor community pools (seasonal — central and Southlawn)
  • 170 acres of open space throughout the community
  • Reunion Recreation Center (21,000 sq ft — fitness, gymnasium, pools)
  • Buffalo Run Golf Course (adjacent — city-owned public 18-hole)
  • Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge (nearby — 15,000 acres)
  • Barr Lake State Park (15–20 min — fishing, birding, trails)
  • RTD bus connections along 104th and 120th Avenues
  • Community events: Beerfest, Farmers Market, Trunk or Treat, Movie Nights
  • E-470 access to broader Front Range trail systems

The trail system connects Reunion’s sub-neighborhoods to the parks and open space areas rather than simply running along streets. The central park’s amphitheater lawn hosts community movie nights and events through the warmer months. The two pools serve different ends of the community, which matters at this scale — Southlawn Pool opened specifically because residents south of 104th Avenue were too far from the original recreation center pool. The community pays attention to what residents use and adjusts.

Dining

Where Reunion Residents Eat

Reunion’s dining scene is concentrated along 104th Avenue and the Chambers Road corridor, with the Reunion Marketplace and Reunion Village commercial centers anchoring the options. The community is still growing into a more robust restaurant selection — residents who moved in early will tell you it was sparse, and residents who moved in recently will tell you it is improving. Both are true. The restaurants that have established themselves here have done so by serving the community consistently over years.

Neighborhood Staples

Life in Reunion

Reunion is the kind of community that non-residents often underestimate until they visit. The scale of the amenity package — the recreation center, the pools, the parks, the trails, the coffee house, the golf course next door, the airport three miles away — does not translate fully in a description. It translates when you see what daily life looks like for residents. The trail system is used every morning. The rec center is used after work. The coffee house is used by everyone who lives within walking distance, which is a lot of people.

Buying in Reunion?

Reunion has multiple sub-neighborhoods with meaningfully different home ages, HOA structures, and proximity to the rec center and pools. New construction in Reunion North and Ridge requires a buyer’s agent who knows the builder contracts — and the Metro District financials are worth a close read before you sign anything. I can help you navigate both.
