Arvada’s Foothills Golf Community
West Woods is west Arvada’s premier residential neighborhood — a well-established golf course community built around the city-owned West Woods Golf Club, which features three distinct nine-hole courses. The neighborhood sits in Arvada’s western reaches where the city’s suburban fabric transitions toward the foothills, and views toward the Sleeping Indian and the Front Range are genuinely dramatic.
The West Woods Golf Club opened its first two nines — the Sleeping Indian and the Cottonwood — in 1994, designed by Richard Phelps. His son Rick then designed the Silo nine in 1998-99. The 27-hole facility rotates 18-hole combinations daily so golfers experience different course personalities each visit. The remodeled clubhouse, in a “Refined Colorado Mountain” style, includes a restaurant with an Overlook Patio and panoramic views. As a city-owned public facility, it provides golf access without the premium of a private club.
Homes reflect quality late-1980s and 1990s construction — traditional two-story, ranch-style, and some larger contemporary builds with mature landscaping and established trees. Ralston Tucker Lake provides additional recreational character, and trail connections to Jefferson County’s open space network make this one of west Arvada’s most outdoor-oriented communities.
Gateway to the Foothills
West Woods’ western position makes it closer to the mountains than virtually any comparable neighborhood in the metro at a similar price point. Golden is 8 minutes south on Highway 93; Boulder is 15 minutes north; I-70 ski corridor access involves less traffic than from Denver proper. Downtown Arvada is a short drive east, and Olde Town Arvada provides dining and entertainment nearby.
